  • Retail sales volumes fell by 1.0% month-to-month in December, leaving them 2.5% below their 2019 average.
  • Sales will continue to fall in the months ahead, due to a further drop in real incomes in Q1 and Q2.
  • The outlook should improve towards the end of the year, however, as energy bills start to fall.
