  • The ONS now estimates real GDP in Q2 topped its Q4 2019 level by 1.8%, rather than undershot it by 0.2%.
  • A burst of growth in real household disposable income has sustained the recovery in the first half of 2023.
  • Households' spending will keep rising; higher interest rates will counter only some of the upturn in real wages.
